I didn't pick a specific commercial. One kind of commercial that is very prevalent in the t.v. world today are beer ads. I can't turn on the television without seeing an ad for some sort of beer. I don't think its necessarily a bad thing, but on the other hand.. it does send out a message. I'm not saying the message is good or bad, but the fact that its promoting an alcoholic beverage. The pros of the commercials are that they are usually entertaining, and promote very well. The cons outweigh the pros because these commercials sometimes give minors the wrong idea. kids want to have fun, and they might think that it's cool to drink. This is because they are influenced by the commercials.

I read the article Primary Choices: Hillary Clinton. There was a lot of propaganda in this article. Clearly, the writer was rooting for either Mr. Obama or Mrs. Clinton. He was most likely a Democrat. The writer uses a "card-stacking" technique, and he only states the positives that both candidates could bring to the country. For example, he says, "Mr. Obama has built an exciting campaign around the notion of change."He also says, "Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton would both help restore America’s global image, to which President Bush has done so much grievous harm. They are committed to changing America’s role in the world, not just its image."The writer also uses emotional appeal, by making us remember some of the bad things that happened in the past, and by saying we should look for a brighter future.

I looked at 3 billboards in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. The first sign i saw was for a law firm. The sign showed a picture of the lawyer, and the number to call. The sign didn't reallly catch my eye for any certain reason, and the sign was a dull, boring color. The second billboard i saw was for the grocery store Publix. The fruits and vegetables looked very yummy, and it made me hungry. It was a persuading sign. The last sign i saw was for IRSC. The billboard gave a specific number to call to get in contact with the school, along with a picture of a happy student. It portrayed the school as a good one, and I thought it was very persuasive.
Assignment 8.8
In a billboard campaign for this class, I would choose to use the Bandwagon approach. Many people in this country have decided to go "green" and start to recycle and use alternate means of using energy. I would also use Emotional Appeal. I would show people how the earth needs their help, because it is in a lot of trouble. After using those two techniques, I would also show many pictures and different colors to appeal to the public's senses.

There are other radio stations that I like, but the Buzz is the best thing to listen to in the morning if you want a good laugh.
